This is one of a series of four paintings on square canvas involving the form of the circle and the different meanings that the circle takes on. I wanted to express the strength and solidarity of the circle by connecting it with the strong independent forms of the women in the paintings.

They came from learning the lives and stories of women in Antwerp, each struggling to find stability or to hold onto it. These paintings are also me, and the strength I have found through the friends I have made here in Belgium.
